Description: Royal Society is the independent scientific academy of the United Kingdom dedicated to promoting excellence in science. Numerous grants are awarded for research in the areas of the natural sciences including mathematics, engineering, medicine, the scientific research aspects of psychology, archaeology, geography and the history of science. Awards are not granted in the areas of the humanities, social sciences or clinical medical research.
Open to: scientists must be of Ph.D. or equivalent status. Fellowship applicants may be in the final stages of a Ph.D., but the degree must be confirmed by the proposed start date. Specific eligibility requirements exist for certain schemes especially in relation to nationality and country of residence; see website for details of individual schemes.
